Bij mijn schilderijen maak ik meestal gebruik van mijn reisfoto’s. Ik maak een uitsnede of een collage en vertaal die in grove kleurvlakken in een beperkt kleurenpalet. Vaag herkenbaar staan de kleurvlakken voor de onduidelijke herinneringen. Daarna begin ik met een penseel en zwarte verf aan ‘mijn reis’ over het canvasdoek. Daarbij probeer ik soms het oorspronkelijke beeld te ‘reconstrueren’ maar vervolgens ook weer mijn eigen waarheid te creëren.
In elk schilderij ontstaan daardoor twee dimensies die steeds weer nieuwe details en herinneringen prijsgeven terwijl andere weer verdwijnen.
